Our video for Munich has five really useful tips on how to save money there:

1. Visit museums on Sundays
If you like to visit museums when in a city, visit them on Sundays when you're in Munich as many are only €1 in. These include:
  • Glypothek (Konigsplatz): Houses a collection of Roman and Greek sculptures.
  • Bayerisches Nationalmuseum (Prinzregentenstraße 3): Has a collection of art in over 40 rooms.
  • Alte Pinakothek (Barer Straße 27): One of the oldest art galleries in the world.
  • Brandhorts Museum ( Theresienstraße 35): Munich's modern art museum.
  • 2. Go on a FREE walking tour
If you want to go on a walking tour but you don't have the funds to treat yourself to one, don't worry. New Munich Tours operate free walking tours every day from the monument at Marienplatz every day at 10/45am and 1pm. There is a catch - the guides work on a tip-only basis. But because of that they're very enthusiastic! The tour takes in many of Munich's top sights.
    3. Catch the Glockenspiel
Munich's famous Glockenspiel is a show of ornament statues in the town hall at Mariensplatz. The show lasts approximately 12 minutes and takes place every day at 11am and 12 noon, with an extra show at 5pm during the summer months.
    4. Chill out in the Englischer Garten
Munich's best known park is the Englischer Garten. It's a great place to chill out. Highlights include the Chinese Tower and the surfers on the Eisbach canal.
    5. Explore Viktualienmarkt and the rest of the city centre
Munich's city centre is full of attractions. These include Viktualienmarkt which is the city's famous food marke and is a the perfect place to try a traditional German lunch. Other highlights include Maximillienstrasse which is one of its top shopping streets and Peterskirche which boasts amazing views.
    And finally....
