Clair Tappaan Lodge

Clair Tappaan Lodge is a historic, rustic mountain hostel nestled in the woods near Lake Tahoe, California. With accommodations for up to 140 guests, our lodge is the perfect home base for year-round recreation and relaxation in the Sierra Nevada.

The friendly, casual atmosphere, proximity to endless outdoor recreation opportunities, and affordable nightly rates make Clair Tappaan the perfect rustic getaway to the Truckee-Tahoe area.

Clair Tappaan Lodge was built by a dedicated group of Sierra Club volunteers in 1934. Today, guests continue the tradition of adventure and exploration on Donner Pass, much like the pioneers before them. With such a rich history and a wide variety of programs, the Lodge has played an important role in introducing people to the outdoors and providing a safe and friendly environment in which to do so.

Accommodations at Clair Tappaan Lodge are rustic with twin-sized bunk beds and shared bathrooms. Choose from private two person rooms, or larger rooms to suit your needs. Each bunk comes with a pillow and a fitted sheet.

To preserve the rustic nature of our Lodge, rooms are not equipped with telephones, televisions, ice machines, or coffee makers. Please plan accordingly. Due to high fire danger, the lodge is a non-smoking facility.

Clair Tappaan Lodge Policy and Conditions:

Cancellation policy: 72h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

Check in from 15:00 to 23:00 .
Check out at 10:00 .

Payment upon arrival by credit cards, debit cards.
Taxes included.

We offer breakfast lunch and dinner for an additional $42 per person which can be purchased on site.
